Gary Ellis

Gary (a previous Town Mayor 2002/3) is a Town Councillor and an East Lindsey District Councillor representing Scarbrough Ward.

At Skegness Town Council he serves on Full Council, Management Committee, Burial Ground Steering Group, Casino Working Group, Foreshore Negotiations Working Group, Honours Working Group, Publicity Chairman), Risk Assessment Working Group, Southern Foreshore Partnership Working Group, Working & Appraisal Working Group and Best Value Chairman). He is also a substitute on Planning and ELDC/STC Liaison Working Group.

Gary is also the Town Council representative on Skegness Indoor Sports Association, Skegness Community Action Group and Lincolnshire Association of Local Councils (Executive Committee).

At East Lindsey District Council, Gary serves on the following Committees: Full Council, Licensing, Standards, Scrutiny A and Skegness Area Committee. Gary is the Leader of the Labour Group at East Lindsey.

What inspired me to become active in politics?

I needed to find  a role in life after having an accident at work; I thought I could give something back to my home town and the community.

Since becoming an East Lindsey District Councillor, my proudest moments are every time I help a resident to move forward with heir request or problem.

Over the next year I hope to finally achieve a Residents Association for The Meadows area of my Ward, and continue to help anyone who asks for my help and advice. I am willing to attend any Groups meetings or coffee mornings etc.

What do I do when not involved in Council work?

I am a family man and foster parent which takes up the time I have left.

Special time; spending time with my wife Julia.
